Opportunity Consulting partnered with the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education to drive the revision of social studies standards, ensuring they are inclusive and relevant to diverse student experiences.

Opportunity Consulting conducted the 2024 independent evaluation of the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP), assessing strengths and opportunities for improvement in youth-centered functions, organizational operations, and management structures. We provided actionable recommendations to enhance MBSYEP’s effectiveness in delivering workforce readiness, career exploration, and academic enrichment for DC youth.

Opportunity Consulting facilitated the DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) staff and members through a data-driven planning retreat to strengthen governance, align strategic priorities, and enhance collaboration. The work conducted through this process served to refine roles and responsibilities, clarify governance principles, and promote transparency in decision-making processes in pursuit of improved school performance.

Opportunity Consulting partnered with the 4-district New Jersey Schools Consortium (NJSC) to conduct a 2-year comprehensive planning assessment, the 'Student Promise Initiative and Network' (SPIN). Through program evaluation and a 3-district landscape analysis, this project aligns NJSC’s outcomes with Fostering Diverse Schools (FDS) goals while leveraging stakeholder and community engagement. The Consortium’s strategy targets diverse teacher shortages and ensures that students with the greatest need gain access to a well-rounded education.

Prince George's County Public Schools, in partnership with the Center for Educational Innovation and Improvement at the University of Maryland and Opportunity Consulting, strengthened educational equity and leadership in Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) and Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) schools. Through school improvement coaching across 45 schools, Opportunity Consulting provided strategic support to administrators and teacher leaders, driving sustainable improvements in educational outcomes.

The Community Advocates for Young Learners (CAYL) engaged Opportunity Consulting to document their 3-year implementation of the first Massachussets childcare sectoral partnership as a backbone organization under the Economic Development Administration’s Good Jobs Challenge grant. This collaboration aims to document and share the barriers and strengths to equitable access and the implementation of a childcare sectoral partnership, and gather perspectives on improving support structures and advocacy efforts.

Opportunity Consulting collaborated with Arlington, Massachusetts, to conduct a comprehensive community needs assessment, identifying critical equity issues in community engagement, workforce, and housing. Our findings resulted in actionable recommendations to form community engagement teams and tackle income disparities affecting residents.

Opportunity Consulting partnered with the Town of Reading to apply our Outcome-Led Equity™ community needs assessment, delivering actionable recommendations to enhance equity across municipal operations, including communications, civic service access, leadership diversity, vendor inclusivity, workforce development, and program delivey.

Opportunity Consulting brought expertise in identifying improvement areas and implementing strategies to promote equity and diversity across Understood's programs and services.

The University of Maryland, in collaboration with Opportunity Consulting, is advancing thought leadership, consultation, and coordination to strengthen school improvement initiatives. Together, they oversee the Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) Network and the School Improvement Summer Institute, driving impactful support for educational growth.

Opportunity Consulting conducted a comprehensive equity audit for Winooski School District, focusing on evaluating the district’s programs and policies to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all students and staff. This audit examined key areas such as community engagement, recruitment, retention, and support for marginalized groups within the school district. Through extensive stakeholder interviews and data analysis, we identified equity gaps and barriers to inclusion, and provided actionable recommendations to address these challenges. The audit has helped the district take meaningful steps toward achieving its equity and diversity goals in education.
