About Us

Opportunity Consulting is anchored by the expertise of our CEO, full-time staff, and affiliate consultants. We combine our collective knowledge and skills to deliver outstanding results, surpassing expectations every step of the way.

We are driven by a core belief: those who live the challenges

should architect the solutions.

Our approach is shaped by the experiences of our Founder. Iris's story is deeply rooted in her heritage and personal journey. The proud daughter of an African American father and a Latina mother from Puerto Rico, this rich cultural background has profoundly shaped her understanding of equity and justice. As the first in her immediate family to graduate from college and go on to earn an advanced degree, a belief in the power of education as a vehicle for change fueled her passion to make a meaningful difference.

After more than a decade working in top-down education and workforce policy, Iris founded IBG Consulting Group, now Opportunity Consulting, with a core belief that those who live the challenges should architect the solutions.

At Opportunity Consulting, our vision extends beyond policy and practice change — we are dedicated to creating real-world opportunities and outcomes that propel economic mobility and educational excellence for those most marginalized in our systems and institutions.

Our approach breaks from the traditional, embodying a philosophy that champions community-led strategies to dismantle systemic barriers and help our clients achieve impact.

Our efforts are bolstered by our skills and professional expertise the sectors we serve, from educational systems adapting to the demands of the twenty-first century to workforce development programs aimed at connecting individuals with the skills and careers for tomorrow.

We stand at the nexus of policy and practice, ensuring that the strategies we co-develop are not only informed by robust data but are also imbued with the voices and aspirations of those most affected by the work. And our work with leaders supports their abilities to make continuous improvements and fuel lasting change.

"Those closest to the pain should be closest to the power."
